LEGACY FILM PATHS

Different ways to hold a lifetime of stories.

Some families want a single, deep-dive film around one person. Others want to capture a whole generation at once. We’ll help you pick what fits your people, timelines, and budget.

If you’re not sure yet, that’s totally normal. Pick the closest path below, share your situation, and we’ll build a custom outline.

SINGLE STORY LANE

“Rooted Here” Film

One person · One place · One legacy

Most Chosen

A focused legacy film around one person — often an elder — filmed in a meaningful space like a home, shop, or yard.

  • • Pre-session call to map key stories and themes
  • • Half-day on-location filming with guided prompts
  • • 10–20 minute story film with chapter markers
  • • Optional shorter “tribute cut” for events
  • • Archive add-on for photos, letters, and home video
Perfect gift for milestone birthdays & anniversaries.

MULTI-PERSON LANE

Generations Session

Siblings · Cousins · Grandparents · Reunions

Group Story

A shared legacy project filmed around a gathering — everyone gets a chance to be on camera, but with zero pressure to “perform.”

  • • Story map built around your family tree
  • • Mix of group and 1-on-1 interviews
  • • B-roll of the gathering, meal, or shared space
  • • 15–25 minute film with chapter breaks
  • • Short reels for each branch or group
Ideal for reunions or holidays when everyone’s together.

ARCHIVE-DRIVEN LANE

Archive & Tribute Build

Old photos · VHS · Voice notes · Letters

Event-Ready

A legacy film primarily built from what you already have — photos, home video, audio messages, letters — plus optional new interviews.

  • • Guidance on gathering and organizing media
  • • Optional remote or in-person interviews
  • • Tribute cut for services or celebrations
  • • Long-form archive export for the family
  • • Optional physical keepsake drives or discs
Great when travel is hard but stories are ready.

FAMILY LEGACY FAQ

Questions families usually ask before we start.

Legacy projects feel big — emotionally and logistically. Our job is to make the process feel clear, gentle, and doable.

How much planning do we need to do before we book?

You don’t have to have all the answers. We start with a simple call or email to understand who the film is about, why now, and any timelines (events, health, travel). From there, we suggest a format and outline.

What if someone is camera-shy or nervous?

Very normal — especially for elders. We use simple prompts, a conversational pace, and plenty of breaks. No one has to be “on” the whole time, and we’ll never push anyone past what feels respectful.

How do you handle old photos, tapes, and other media?

We’ll walk you through safe ways to scan or ship items, or work with local labs you trust. We can lightly restore and organize media for use in the film, and return everything with a digital backup.

Can these films be used at funerals, celebrations, or family events?

Yes. Many families commission a legacy project with an event in mind. We can create an event-ready tribute cut with captions and music that works well in venues while still preparing a longer film for the archive.

How do you handle privacy and who can see the final film?

You choose who gets access. We deliver via private, unlisted links and optional password protection, plus downloadable files for long-term storage on drives you control.
